12/10/19 4:14 PM COURTNEY COLLECTS MIKE CURB SUPER LICENSE
http://usacracing.com/news/silver-cr...-super-license ![]() COURTNEY COLLECTS MIKE CURB SUPER LICENSE By: Richie Murray – USAC Media Speedway, Indiana (December 10, 2019)………A banner 2019 season has resulted in Tyler Courtney collecting his second consecutive Mike Curb Super License championship after accumulating the most total points among the three USAC National divisions this season. The Indianapolis, Ind. native racked up a total of 4,534 points throughout between USAC’s Silver Crown, AMSOIL National Sprint Car and NOS Energy Drink National Midget campaigns. *That was 169 points more than his nearest competitor, Chris Windom of Canton, Ill., while Cullman, Alabama’s Kevin Thomas, Jr. rounded out the top-three, 248 points behind Courtney. One year following his AMSOIL National Sprint Car title in 2018, Courtney followed up with the second leg of the USAC Triple Crown in 2019 with a dominating NOS Energy Drink National Midget season in which he led all drivers with eight feature victories in 30 starts en route to the championship. Courtney was 16th in the Silver Crown standings after competing on a part-time basis with the series and finished second in the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car points in 2019, just 18 points behind C.J. Leary. However, Courtney did lead all drivers in the series in terms of victories for the second-straight year with nine.* He also captured a single Silver Crown win score in the Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in May.* He was one of two drivers to win USAC National main events in all three series along with Brady Bacon. Sunshine’s 18 USAC National feature victories: 8 Midget, 9 Sprint and 1 Silver Crown, were most among all drivers in 2019.* His final win tally tied him for the third most all-time in a single season alongside A.J. Foyt and Parnelli Jones’ 1964 campaigns and trailed only J.J. Yeley’s 23 National wins in 2003 and Foyt’s 19 in 1961. This is the 21st year of the Mike Curb Super License, which will pay Courtney a $5,000 reward and a USAC Super License worth $900 at the year-end USAC Night of Champions in December in Indianapolis, Ind. Courtney becomes the first driver to repeat as Super License champion since Tracy Hines in 2013-2014.* Previous Super License/USAC National Driver Championship titlists include Dave Darland (1999 & 2015), Tracy Hines (2000-2008-2013-2014), J.J. Yeley (2001-2002-2003), Jay Drake (2004), Josh Wise (2005-2006), Jerry Coons, Jr. (2007), Cole Whitt (2009), Bryan Clauson (2010-2011-2012), Brady Bacon (2016), Justin Grant (2017) and Tyler Courtney (2018-2019) * 2019 FINAL MIKE CURB SUPER LICENSE POINTS STANDINGS: 1.
