More... SUNSHINE ON BRINK OF SUPER LICENSE TITLE By: Richie Murray – USAC Media Speedway, Indiana (November 21, 2019)………After clinching the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship title Wednesday night at Placerville Speedway, Tyler Courtney is now on the brink of a second consecutive Mike Curb USAC Super License title with just two USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget races remaining in California on Nov. 23 at Bakersfield Speedway and Nov. 28 at Ventura Raceway. Courtney (Indianapolis, Ind.) has earned the most combined points between USAC’s Silver Crown, AMSOIL National Sprint Car and NOS Energy Drink National Midget divisions throughout the 2019 season thus far and holds a 154-point lead over second-place Chris Windom in the standings entering the Bakersfield November Classic this Saturday. With 160 maximum total points available over the next two races, an appearance Saturday at Bakersfield will sew up the Super License honors for 2019. As one of two drivers to win main events in all three of the divisions thus far this year, Courtney has already accumulated a total of 18 National feature victories: 8 Midget, 9 Sprint and 1 Silver Crown, most among all drivers.* The Indianapolis, Ind. native also finished second in the 2019 Sprint standings and took 16th in the final Silver Crown tally where he ran a partial schedule only on the dirt. His 18 USAC National wins this season are tied for the third most all-time in a single season alongside A.J. Foyt and Parnelli Jones’ 1964 campaigns, and trails only J.J. Yeley’s 23 National wins in 2003 and Foyt’s 19 in 1961. In its 21st year, the Mike Curb Super License will pay a $5,000 reward and a USAC Super License worth $900 at the year-end USAC Night of Champions in December in Indianapolis, Ind. * SUPER LICENSE CHAMPIONS: 1999: Dave Darland, 2000: Tracy Hines, 2001: J.J.
