2019 Night of Champions - Lawrenceburg Speedway - September 21st
Lawrenceburg Speedway will crown its 2019 track champions this weekend when it hosts its annual “Night of Champions” on September 21st. After a dominating performance, winning eight of fourteen features, Matt Hamilton has already secured his second title in the KOI Auto Parts UMP Modifieds. With 225 points up for grabs, the other three championships will not be decided until the features are run Saturday night. Joel Andrews holds a 90-point advantage over Mike Ackman in the Impact Sports Pure Stocks, and in the Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornets Gary Whitt is 45-points ahead of his teammate, and two-time defending track champion, Cordell Moore. The tightest battle is in the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint division where after ten races Dickie Gaines and Joss Moffatt are tied for the point lead. Gaines has been the point leader all season after his opening night feature win on April 6th but has not been able to stretch his lead by more than 50-points. With six top-ten finishes in the last six races, Moffatt was finally able to pull even with Gaines last weekend. If Gaines can outpoint Moffatt Saturday night, he will secure his second Lawrenceburg Speedway track championship and join Moffatt as the only sprint drivers to win championships on both the quarter-mile and 3/8ths track configurations. If Moffatt prevails, he will become a four-time track champion. If they remain tied Gaines holds the tiebreaker advantage by virtue of his two feature wins. There will be a slight change to the race format in the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint division only. A blind pill draw will still be used to set the heat race groups, but lap times gathered during practice will set the heat race lineups. Cars will be lined straight up by time with the fastest four cars in each heat race inverted. Heat race finish will still determine the lineups for the B Main(s) and feature with the top two finishers in each heat race (if five or more heats only the winners) redrawing for their starting position at the front of the feature field. The sprint feature will pay $1,500 to win and $225 to start, there will be $100 tow money paid to all sprint cars that do not start the feature, and $63 paid to the Hard Charger, the driver who advances the most positions in the feature. The complete payout can be found on the track's website at www.lawrenceburgspeedway.com. SEPTEMBER 21, 2019 - Lawrenceburg Speedway |

Only one race left to settle the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Championship at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind. Saturday night Dickie Gaines will battle Joss Moffat, and when the final checkered flag waives only one will wear the crown.
Gaines has held the top spot in the point standings all season but now finds himself tied with Moffatt. Here is a side by side comparison on how each driver got to this point: APRIL 6 |

Woohoo, Moffatt vs Gaines, Mono e. Mono for the title. Who will win?
I wish them both well. Like both of them a ton. Kinda favoring Gaines only because it would be great to have two champions who've gotten championships on both the old and new tracks. I feel there aren't any other opportunities for that to happen as time and generations change. Also his father was a multi time Burg Champ.

Then again, Moffatt would become the only four time champion other than Staab in the sprint division.

I think that some of the racing family's will be in the house at the burg Saturday night. Manatory Saturday and Sunday for me. Time to work and time to play will keep me away from the racing events this weekend. Have fun and enjoy all the great things that we all love. Sounds like that it's going to be a great racing event at the burg. Thanks.
