According to what Rob Klepper was saying last night, Dave needed to beat JCJ by 7 positions to beat him for the title. When they threw the checker, Dave was 4th and Jerry was 9th. A whole year's worth of racing came down to that.

This is exactly the reason that open wheel racing is so exciting. We don't need a manufactured (aka the Chase) ending to ensure a quality series. Add to that all of the side by side racing that midgets, sprints and silver crown provides and it is easy to see why we love to watch. To bad that so many people haven't been exposed the this type of racing. The only bad part is that I can't see all of the races.:O:

Went on-line late last night in the hope that USAC's video feature would be working :headbang
Been a long season, and I got to go to four events. Congrats to Jerry Coons on his hard fought Championship!:checkered: |

Congrats Jerry!
One more title to go and he'll be a Triple Crown Champ. Maybe Hines as well with the little cars. |

IMHO a chase virtually eliminates a season of hard work to get you where you were only to let eveyone else catch up or steel a championship.
Congrats Coondog! Seal the sprinter tonight and bring a drivers championship to you and the USAC title to 8 time HAR winners. You deserve it bud. Go get em ![]() |
