Saw this on Track Forum. He was Jimmy Johnson's spotter and Hendrick laid him off. He is truly one of the good guys.

[B]I agree this is a tought break for Stevie. Here is the post that was on Jaski's site:

Layoffs at Hendrick, Johnson's spotter included: During a modest round of layoffs Monday and Tuesday at Hendrick Motorsports, Jimmie Johnson's spotter, Stevie Reeves, was told he would not return to the #48 Lowe's Chevy team next season, Reeves confirmed Tuesday night. Reeves and the Hendrick organization part on good terms. The spotter, who helped guide Johnson to his second consecutive Sprint Cup championship in 2007, has already been contacted by other teams and is weighing his options. "They wanted to give me plenty of time to find something before Homestead and not leave me hanging high and dry," said Reeves, who will spot the final two races of the season for Johnson as he attempts to win a record-tying third straight championship. "Rick Hendrick knows how to treat people, and that's what makes him so successful. Jimmie Johnson is a class act, and the only thing I regret is that I won't be working with him next year, but I'm going to land on my feet OK."

Actually, nascar could do all of their teams a favor and save them a little money by eliminating the most ridiculous position ever created. nascar should ban the use of blocking coaches.....er, I mean, "spotters" and replace them with a few nascar officials, on "the roof", who could relay any legitimate safety information through a one way radio link to all drivers simultaneously.

If the driver actually needs an "assistant driver", that guy should be seated in the car so he could give far more accurate and carefully considered advice than is possible from "the roof", where he is safe from the consequences of bad advice that he may give.

"spotters".....Phooey!

Did you ever see Parnelli's or Foyt's mother in Victory Lane ? Noooo Way.
(Leave it to the sissy-boys, this includes both Busch brothers) :O:
