COURTNEY LEADS TIGHT SUPER LICENSE POINT RACE WITH 9 EVENTS REMAINING

Speedway, Indiana (October 9, 2018)………A tight point race in the Mike Curb Super License standings has the top-three within 72 markers as the season heads into its final month-and-a-half.

Tyler Courtney leads Kevin Thomas, Jr. by just 24 points with reigning Super License champ Justin Grant trailing by just 72 back in the third position for the crown that honors the driver who accumulates the most combined points across USAC’s three national divisions: Silver Crown, Sprint Car and Midget throughout the 2018 season.

Indianapolis, Indiana’s Courtney leads all drivers with a season-high 12 feature wins in USAC national competition this year (10 in sprints and 2 in midgets).* Thomas, of Cullman, Ala., has won eight features between his six in the sprint and two in the midget, plus three-straight second-place finishes to conclude the Silver Crown schedule.* Grant is the only driver to win features in all three national divisions in 2018 with one each in the Silver Crown car and the midget, plus two in the sprint, both of which the Ione, Calif. driver earned in a single weekend to conclude the month of September.

Nine points-paying USAC National races remain to claim the $5000 prize involving three drivers who are at their peak right now.* Six sprint races are left: this Friday, October 12 at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track, November 2-3 at Arizona Speedway in San Tan Valley and November 8-9-10 at California’s Perris Auto Speedway.* Plus, three midget races October 21 at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Ill., and a pair of California races November 17 at Bakersfield Speedway and November 22 at Ventura Raceway.
