I have to do a little explaining before I ask the question...

After the Fairbury cancellation as most of you know, we announced we were having our MOWA Championship next Friday Oct. 5th. We were also working with Casey to accommodate War's need for a final points race as well. Some of you might notice that today we announced that next weekend will now be a 2 day show with MOWA both Friday and Saturday. (WAR only on Friday). Going from 3 races left in a series schedule to suddenly just one creates havoc in a series point standings and some degree of unfairness. We really needed to have at least 2 MOWA races to fairly settle some point scores and give drivers a fair chance to reach our 75% attendance threshold. So we added a second MOWA night Saturday for our Championship. Plus we always like a 2 day show at the end of the year and circumstances weren't going to allow it this year until the events of this week happened.

At the same time we really respect the show Bernie and Scott have put together Saturday in Kokomo and want to affect it as little as possible by racing winged sprints at Jacksonville Saturday. But my next move here is going to look like we are trying to affect it even more... I think both of them know I'm not. As we build an entertaining show for Saturday we keep coming back to the fact that there will likely be a fair number of non-wing cars here on Friday that have no intention of going to Kokomo or to Lakeside with USAC. I'm thinking mainly of cars from Central/Southern Illinois and Eastern Missouri. Instead of sending those cars home to sit Saturday, we'd like to race them if we are going to have enough for a nice 2 heat show. I doubt we have enough, but don't know till you ask.

So here's what I'm asking... If you would be interested in racing a non-wing car at Jacksonville again on Saturday for around $1,000 to win and had zero intention of going to either Kokomo or Lakeside... please text me at 217-371-3653 with a message along the following lines. "Hi This Is XXXXX, and I'd be there for a Saturday Non-Wing race and I wasn't going to Kokomo or Lakeside". I'd like to hear from at least 2 heats worth of cars by Thursday noon if possible before I go a different direction for next Saturday. If you know of a buddy who might not see this message, let me know.

Again... If you were already going to Kokomo or are in the WAR Wildcard point hunt... you need to load up after our race Friday and #GYATK. If you were heading back home to Missouri to race Lakeside... go there. If you weren't... shoot me a text and maybe you can hang around Jacksonville and extra day and entertain our great fans with another night of wing/non-wing action.

Thanks
Kenny Dobson

Yes. I've gotten enough responses to say we will be running a non-wing race again Saturday. Pretty much the field I was looking for - a handful of drivers that will be here for the MOWA race going to pull double duty, a handful that had no intention to race anywhere else that weekend and a couple that weren't able to be here Friday and coming just for Saturday. None of those I've heard from impact any other existing shows.

Not sure I'd say this to the public at large, but for those who read this board, I'm willing to say what my intentions are by doing this. We scheduled two nights because we really need two nights for MOWA points. But we for sure need at least 1. With October's unpredictable weather if Friday were to get rained out, we can still race a MOWA race Saturday and have a show and a point night plus have something else entertaining with the non-wings. If we get rained out Saturday - at least we got Friday in and had a great show and those who were going to race here can run up to Kokomo if they wish and get a race in. If we don't get anything Saturday, but Kokomo does and goes to their Sunday rain date, everyone can stay here and race Saturday since we already have it scheduled and then go to Kokomo. Not wishing bad weather on me or anyone else. Just keeping all options open this time of the year when planning 10 days out. Hoepfully everyone gets to race as scheduled next weekend.

Just another example of why you are one of the best promoters in the country. Drivers, owners and fans appreciate this thoughtfulness.

Frank - Wish that were true so our grandstands wouldn't be half empty on our Season Championship tomorrow. There are people who can fill those seats way better than me. But thanks for the compliment.

RACER99W - Casey had a lot of factors at play and to balance in deciding how to handle the $20,000 deal. Some he could control, some he couldn't. He did an incredible job under the circumstances. He landed it at one of the premier non-wing sprint car tracks in America after being dealt a pretty rough hand. Yes, we and others were in the mix with offers to help out, but it ended with a pretty good outcome for everyone. There were others you might not expect who helped it all work out for him as well. Sometimes it's better just to enjoy eating the sausage instead of visiting the factory. See you next Friday Night at Jacksonville.

Love the way you think about taking care of Jacksonville, taking care of the teams, taking care of the fans and then loving dirt track racing at large

Hot Laps will be around 6 - 6:15ish. Racing starting at 7. Probably will have one other class that will race between the two sprint divisions to give guys time to switch cars if they are doing double duty. I'm polling our local classes tonight to figure out which one.
