Mother Nature Mandates Schedule Adjustment

In what has been an historic season, the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series has rained out exactly one half of the 2018 schedule. The late summer months have turned especially harsh. BOSS and race track officials have been working to reschedule some fall events in an effort to have a championship night for the traditional wingless sprint cars and to cap the season with one last stand alone winged event. The following are the remaining events along with some rescheduled events.

This Friday and Saturday, September 14 & 15 - BOSS WINGS - co-sanctioned with FAST for the "Jim Ford Classic". Two complete shows for winged 410 sprint cars. $3,000 to win / $400 to start on Friday. Then, $10,000 to win and $500 to start on Saturday. All non transfers will get $200 each night. FAST rules will prevail both nights. Friday pit passes are $30 and Saturday is $35 pit admission. Gates open at 4 each day with racing at 7. Special bonus awards will be awarded to drivers from the top 15 in current non wing points and/or drivers who have attended one of the 2 previous BOSS winged events at Atomic and Gas City.

The NON WING traditional sprints will makeup the 2018 Kokomo Sprint Car Smackdown on Thursday night, September 27th. Being a rare Thursday event, BOSS has elected to make this a special non points paying event. We can not justify asking teams to take 2 days off work to compete one night. This event will still run under full BOSS rules and supervision. Heat race and bonus awards will still be paid out. The same rule applies, any driver who has made a previous Smackdown A-Main is NOT eligible for the BOSS portion of the show.

The BOSS WING 410 sprints will return to action with a make-up event at Montpelier Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 29. This race was rained out on Saturday, August 18th. Montpelier promoter, Harold Hunter, was excited to work with us to make this event happen. This event will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start.

Finally, the rained out NON WING finale at Montpelier from September 8th is under negotiations for a make-up date as well. Officials from both sides are discussing October weekends, and an announcement will be made in the next few days.

Aaron, This indeed is a very difficult process to find suitable make up dates to contest financially successful events with limited weekends remaining in 2018. I thank you and all of the track promoters for their efforts to provide BOSS non wing and wing shows for the drivers, crews, and fans. Looking forward to supporting all of the Fall rescheduled race dates!
