Well, word on the street in Az says he'll be running the Western World Championships at Manzanita Speedway, the weekend after the World Finals. Guess he was at practice night last Wednesday (at Manzy) and will be back out this Wednesday for another practice session.
Saw that on another site and found it to be quite interesting

He won a race in 1984 at Ascot park Pacific Prelim without a wing been 24 years since he had the wing off.
I have been corrected 24 or 18 years is still a long time. If anyone can do it Steve can.

That was the CRA show in '90 that he won @ Eldora. When I worked for OK Andy Hillenburg in '97, we were working @ Steve's shop getting ready for a Saturday Eldora WoO show. Friday morning, Steve was dead set on going to Bloomington and running the non-winged regular show, just for fun. After some pleading and possibly arguing, Scott Gerken talked him out of it, just due to the points race, and we were all dead from a lot of races the previous weeks. Steve just wanted to go and relax & have some no pressure fun-I know everyone but Gerken was really hoping they went and raced!

You're right. That guy can do about anything he wants, and do it well.

This is awesome news, I hope it's true! If it is, don't be surprised if he lays it to 'em out there. Man, I wish I could go....
