I attended my first USAC / “real” sprint car race this past Saturday at Kokomo. Being from Louisiana I felt obligated to post on the forum and express how great the experience was. Everyone from the fans and drivers all the way to the dirt, it was a fantastic night of racing. I’ve been to several WoO and ASCS Nat’l events from podunk tracks down south to Eldora and Williams Grove, but this event took the cake in my book (in all racing, not just open wheel!).
I’m sure you guys are use to the action being from Indiana, but it blew me away. Y’all have a true gem in this area being in such close proximity to non wing action on a weekly basis. Back home we are fanatics of Speedshift and Loudpedal where we watch the highlights/streams religiously.
I also visited with a few crew members of various teams and watched the A while standing with a Mr. Spencer who all were very friendly and patient with my questions about the cars, drivers, and racing in the area.
I hope you guys never take what you have up here for granted. If you ever feel the need to, then feel free to visit some of our once thriving, but now closed local tracks back home (Thunder Valley Speedway, Forest Hill Speedway, and Leesville 171 Speedway) all in central Louisiana.
I’m hoping to be able to make a few more events before the season’s end. Hopefully I’ll catch some of you in the pits at a track soon.

Totally agree, glad you had a good time. I go to Louisiana fairly often, but obviously not for racing, more like music, food & dancing. I wore a Jason Johnson T-shirt to Festivale Acadien in Lafayette one year, only one guy recognized it & he asked if I was in Jason's family (everything is family there, as you know!)

Glad that you enjoyed it Qwik. Come back and see us again. The atmosphere for this race is great, but to be honest, the track and the fans are always like that at Kokomo.

Agreed. I had a fan walk down 5 or 6 rows just to warn me a bee had flown into my soda can w/ out me knowing it. Even cooler is that it was Racegal and family!!! Thanks again Darland Family! Glad you enjoyed it, Qwik!
