Anticipation High for Nelson as Macon Approaches
By Jessica Jenkins Coming off a weekend without racing, Tyler Nelson is ready to get back on track at Macon Speedway. After a busy week of racing in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri that saw him make both USAC features in Cappy Mason's #47, he will stick closer to home this Saturday. Nelson's return to Central Illinois comes in Jack Harris' #91 seven weeks since his last start at the 1/5th mile dirt track. His most recent appearance in Illinois saw the Indianapolis resident establish himself as one of the fastest cars at the Illinois State Fairground's Multi-Purpose Arena. So it is natural that Nelson is anticipating carrying that momentum into the Camfield Memorial on August 19th with the POWRi National Midget series. Looking ahead to the race, Nelson shared, "I am very excited to drive for Jack again after coming from our successful run last time. I think we have a good platform to work with and have a good chance to come out with a top 10. Anything more than that would be great, but I think we have to shoot for that first." Saturday marks Nelson's fourth appearance this season at Macon Speedway and the final 2017 POWRi National Midget show at the track near Decatur, IL. Stands open at 3pm, hot laps take place at 6pm followed by racing at 7pm. POWRi's National midgets will be joined by the Beach House Micros and UMP's Pro Late Models, Street Stocks and Hornets. Tickets are just $15 per adult and free for all kids 11 and under. It's sure to be a perfect night for racing, so head on down and catch some thrilling midget car action. |
