Great Lakes Dirt Nationals Next for BOSS

The biggest event weekend in the 7 year history of the Rick's Trucks & Equipment BOSS tour is set for this weekend. The first ever "Great Lakes Dirt Nationals" at Mansfield Motor Speedway was already a busy weekend with $2,000 to win for BOSS on Friday and $5,000 to win on Saturday. However, a May rained out event has left a make-up 25 lap feature that is now set to roll off first to kick off the Friday night action. This brings a total of 3 main events over a little more than 24 hours!

With a titanic 3 way battle for the championship looming, Dustin Smith will lead the tour into this important weekend. Justin Owen and Michael Fischesser are within striking distance of the lead in one main event. So with 3 main events on the line, this weekend could play a pivotal role in the outcome of the 2017 championship.

Friday's make-up feature from the May event finds Andy Feil and Chad Wilson on the front row. Smith and Fischesser will start from row 2 while Owen is set to roll off 8th in the 22 car main event. Following the make-up race, a complete new show will then take place for $2,000 to win using the standard BOSS format. Saturday's $5,000 to win finale will use a special qualifying format.

For teams competing at Mansfield, there is an optional practice day on Thursday evening. Pit passes for that day are $20. Friday pit passes are $35 and Saturday pit passes are $40. However, a 2 day pass is $70 and a 3 day pass is available for $85. Fuel and parts trailers will be at the track. No mufflers are required for this weekend. Transponder rental will be $5 per day. Teams racing through Saturday will get one check from BOSS after Saturday's racing action.

For fans, please refer to the Mansfield Motor Speedway website at www.mansfieldmotorspeedway.com for ticket information and advanced ticket discounts. Camping information is also available on the MMS site. Competing race teams may stay and camp in the pit area as long as the race rig is used. No additional campers will be allowed inside the pit area.

Area hotels are nearly full and BOSS has struggled to come up with a host hotel that offred a discount and had enough availability. Other area events have booked up most hotels. There are still rooms available under the BOSS name at the Quality Inn - phone 567-772-0083 and the BOSS rate is $172 plus tax. There are openings at other hotels in the $80 range including the Motel 6 on North Trimble Road at 419-529-2100 and the M-Star Hotel in downtown on 137 Park Avenue West phone: 419-522-5142. Please check the reviews on these hotels.
