If a track has been there nearly 100 years why would you move next to it if noise bothers you. Jyst proves that some people aren't happy if they can't complain about something

I wonder if the noise is worse when the IRA races there than the midgets? Is it possible that some of the problems are due to different classes at the track.

The "IRS" midgets of 2007 thru whenever the last time they ran there (I'm thinking 2014 maybe?) were prolly the least loud...thought there were some good shows too...

I like the roof idea. No worry of rainouts. Noise every race night.

After 22 years you'd think they'd developed a routine....like Sunday evening church and the wife to a nice, quiet restaurant.lol.and the crying babies, our son from infant to two years old used to fall asleep in our laps on the back stretch of our local track watching races.maybe needs to buy a ticket and get closer to the track for a more soothing hum affect. :-)

Kind of goes along with what you are saying & I know the idea came from the story, but how does a "roof" keep noise from extending laterally "outword"??? jw

It really makes you wonder. The track has been there for 100 years and some people move into town or have children and suddenly there is a noise problem. Attendance and car counts have dwindled lately at Sun Prairie and I guess the town officials have to determine if the economic benefits from having this track in town are greater than the complainants that they are receiving. As Trannyman said about the couple that have lived there 22 years and are now complaining maybe they can find something to do for a few hours on Sunday instead of sitting on their front porch. As far as the families with young children are concerned when you buy a house in a town you must research everything around you and realize that in a town that has a race track there will be noise on the night they are scheduled to run. Either move further away from the track or sound proof your children's rooms to rectify the problem. I never have felt it was right for people to complain about a race track in a town when they knew or should have known about it when they first moved in.
