Also, sprint car teams, you still have a month to use up your inventory of tires until the new tire rule takes effect.
Effective June 2nd, 2014:
The only tire allowed in competition will be the Hoosier 105/16-15 Med.

For races prior to June 2nd, teams will be allowed to use their current inventory of Hoosier 104/17-15DT or Hoosier 105/15-15 HT2 along with Hoosier 105/16-15Med.

Gonna be a good chance for a lot of cars to run for a bit more money and a crown. Big Dogs out west and North.

Could there be a first time Burg Winner?
Can't wait!

Dave, what will the heat race invert be? Will there still be a redraw or just invert top 6 qualifiers for the Main? I assume everyone will spread out and get at least 3 full laps?
Looking forward to group qualifying! I've wanted that for a long time!

King of the Midwest Sprint Format
May 3, 2014 - Lawrenceburg Speedway

All drivers must pull a pill before the draw closes at 5:30 pm to determine their hot lap/qualifying/heat race group.

You will be locked into a specific heat race group by your pill draw number. For example, if there are 24 cars the lowest 8 numbers drawn will be in the first heat, the middle 8 numbers drawn will be in the second heat, and the highest 8 numbers drawn will be in the third heat.

All sprints will hot lap in their heat race group and be given 3 green flag laps. The times will be recorded with your fastest lap counting as your official qualifying time.

Heat race lineups will be straight up by official qualifying times (of that heat race group) with the fastest 4 cars inverted.

Cars will transfer to the feature by heat race finish. The top 2 finishers in each heat race will redraw for their starting position at the front of the feature field. The remaining heat transfers will start straight up by heat finish.

If a B main is needed the lineup will be straight up by heat race finish. Transfers will start at the rear of the feature by B main finish, behind all heat transfers.

So, all that is accomplished by group qualifying is the line up for the heat race.
QUALIFY the sprint cars! One lap per car. Driver vs. track. Then invert 4 for the heat races, staggered. Then "reward" a driver by giving his/her time back for the feature (with an invert by quick qualifier pill draw such as 2,4, or 6) or B-main if necessary.
All the fast cars could still be in the same heat race based on the pill draw, otherwise.
Qualifying is what makes sprint car racing unique. JMHO

if you're gonna time trial, put the fastest in the rear or don't waste time qualifying
