The stars and cars of the Traxxas USAC Silver Crown Series will take to the dirt of the Indiana State Fairgrounds this Thursday May 23 to finally open their 2013 season. And for the first time in team history Hardy Boys Motorsports team will field two entries.
Starting with the 57th Hoosier Hundred and with backing from Four Seasons Ace Hardware, Simpson Race Products, R&R Enterprises, Donna’s Sweetwater Saloon 2, and Infinity Shocks the team plans to embark on their most ambitious season yet. Second generation driver and son of late great Cliff Cockrum, Shane Cockrum of Benton, Illinois will again pilot the teams Jim Brown Chevy powered Beast at all of the series dirt competitions. The PowrI midget series regular will be attempting to follow up the momentum of picking up his first career series victory at the Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois. He will also be beginning his third season behind the wheel of the 114 and making another attempt at bringing home the Hoosier crown to southern Illinois.
Also making its maiden voyage into competition will be the team’s number 15 entry. A Beast also powered by a Chevy by Jim Brown, the car will be driven by Casey Shuman of Rattlesnake Bend, Arizona as the “boys” take their first foray as a multi car team. This will be “Little Shu’s” freshman attempt at the Hoosier Mile. The popular Indianapolis transfer has been working for the opportunity to match his famous father Ron’s 1992 triumph at the Fairgrounds and will finally have his chance. The 15 will be used at the dirt miles of Indianapolis, Springfield, and Duquoin, and pending sponsorship could be extended for the duration of the dirt schedule.
Hardy and the team are optimistic of the season’s opportunities and expansion of the team. While believing fully in their chances to improve and possibly even bring home their first series victory. For any interviews or sponsorship questions you can reach the team online on the teams Facebook page, Facebook.com/HardyBoysMotorsports or contact Greg Hardy at greghar23@yahoo.com and by telephone(217)201-2128
