Upper Left Coast Race

For the last 5 years USAC had not scheduled a National points race against Calistoga's Louie Vermeil Classic on Labor Day weekend. This afforded Damien Gardner and Robert Ballou and others to come out to race here in Northern California. This was a great additions to the program and each have had wins. This year they race in Indiana Saturday night. Nice job National.

Were they supposed to turn down tracks offering dates? That is also a holiday weekend outside of California. Long haul from IN to CA for one race.

I think you should focus your attention on growing the sprint car base in California rather than blaming someone in Indiana.

It's not just USAC MSCS,WoO and others change out on tracks too scheduling races are not that easy year to year each track has their own priorities on what dates are open week to week the same with Sanction bodies they can't please everyone, heck Putnamville didn't have USAC at all for about 5 years especially during Indiana Sprint Week they have their reasons of why and many of us know the reason and some don't it's just part of it and we all have to live with it.

While I feel bad that this scheduling conflict will take a couple of drivers away from the fans out there, I think USAC in this case, is doing what's best for the majority of their competitors. This Friday-Saturday USAC Doubleheader @ Granite City and Terre Haute is a great addition to their schedule. You start out with a real nice facility that USAC needs to be at more and finish up with one of the great tracks in USAC history. And both are promoted by people who aggressively market the sport. Again, it's bad for you guys out there, but it's going to one of USAC's better racing weekends of the year. Along with the one that begins tonight!

2300 miles seperate the two. If thats not enough distance to quell any worry about them stepping on each other, something is wrong.

Gardner and Ballou would rather race with the best, that is why they are in Indiana! Have a great Labor day weekend!

This would be no different than me saying Thanks Kokomo and USAC for taking away the sprints from Putnamville this Saturday or next Saturday. I am just glad that the Indiana tracks got together and let there be just one big show this weekend. California should really try having their big shows later or earlier in the year that way they could draw in some of the big names who want to race when the weather is still cold here in Indiana.
