14th annual Rumble in Fort Wayne
Friday, Dec. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011│Memorial Coliseum Expo Center│Fort Wayne, Ind.

SATURDAY RESULTS

(story with quotes is posted on a separate thread)

Tony Stewart swept the two-day Rumble in Fort Wayne for the second time in his career, surviving a race of attrition Saturday night to capture the 50-lap midget feature in convincing fashion.

The three-time NASCAR champion grabbed the lead when David Gough's ignition broke on lap 18 and led the rest of the way despite a series of caution periods and heavy lapped traffic. Jon Stanbrough managed a runner-up finish even though his car caught fire early in the event, producing a red flag. The fire crew doused the fire, which started when the car's "heat insulation laid over on the header," according to team owner Rick Daugherty, and Stanbrough charged from the rear of the field. Rex Norris III, Billy Wease and Dave Darland rounded out the top five.

Stewart's weekend sweep gives him nine Rumble in Fort Wayne feature wins in 14 career starts since 1999. Including the final 10 races of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase and a kart victory in Indianapolis earlier in the month, he's won eight of his past 13 races.

Ryan Smith won a crash-filled winged outlaw modified midget feature. Doug Jones captured the mini-sprint main.

To the person that was asking about results for tonight's action @ Ft. Wayne. Wendy is editing the post she started the thread with, which doesn't take it back to the top. Any post you add to her thread will do that.

I added Dave Darland on a promoters option. Past Rumble winners can be added to the field. He had a good run from 15th.

Happy New Year everyone!

We had a great time for 2 days. Plenty of good racing for hours on end. The pitbull jump was exciting as well. both of them. Good to see some of our summer time race friends. Stewart put on a clinic and shut up the boo birds in fine fashion. Thanks to all the drivers and Mr. Barhorst for the event.
