I am putting together a new motor with a 3.562 stroke. I have never been a motor guy before so I dont know what Rods and Pistons to use. I cant find any information about this does anyone one know if I can use standard 5.7 rods and pistons?

never heard of a 3.562 crank,sure you didn't mean 3.625 ...maybe I've just been out of the loop...anyway the piston pin location will depend on the stroke -rod length-deck height ...I'd call a piston manufacturer [say Ross] and talk to them ..anyone got the real answer ..post it ..I like to keep updated

You will probably need 6" rods and pistons with a corresponding pin height. 5.7 might not clear the counterweights.

But thats where I have the problem. When I look for pistons I can't find what the pin height is on the piston.

You should be able to go to the JE website and look up your combo. You're actually looking for the compression height (pin height).

I was thinking that JE uses the same piston for 3-9/16" (3.5625) stroke as they do for 3.550" stroke.

I've been thinking about building a similar engine, but probably going with the 5.850" rods. Seems to be the best of both worlds between the 5.7 and 6.0 rods.

My first sprint engines in the early 80`s had a 3 9/16 stroke. Not sure of how your crank ended up with this stroke but on mine I would get a run of the mill 350 steel crank (3.48 stroke) with large journal (2.100) and have it offset ground to small journal (2.00) with 3.562 stroke. I would use the stock small journal rods with 11/32 rod bolts and ross pistons in a 400 block.
The cranks would only last 25-30 races before they were cracked so I would keep a fresh one in stock. I ran this combo for 4-5 years with a wing and only ever had one rod failure. $1000 short blocks, those were the days!
