Is there a way to tell without disassembly what size ring and pinion you may have in a sprint rear like 411,486,etc.?

Take the rear cover off. Put a mark on the end of the pinion. Now put a mark on the axle. Turn the axle 1 round and count the revolutions of the pinion. If it turns just over 4 times it is a 4.11. If it is about 4 1/2 then it is a 4.56. Nearly 5 revolutions is a 4.86. That's about as simple a way that I know of.
