The class is called "DEVELOPING A COST EFFICIENT MIDGET PROGRAM". The class members all have a reasonable knowledge of midget racing and it's history. None of them have any ties to any tire or midget component manufacturer or midget related company. Use a current USAC legal midget as a starting point.

The assignment is to come up with one or more ways that will result in a cost efficient midget.

How long will it take the class to come up with a program? 18 months? A year? Month? 1 day?

If you meet the above qualifications, please post your answers! Even one suggestion is allowed. HINT: If you do some research, you will find that most or all the answers are right here on IOW or other midget related web sites. OK.. Let's see what you come up with.

Here is a first suggestion from another thread:

Limit the motors to 11.999999 to 1 compression ratio. It lets the motors last a lot longer and current owners would only need a set of piston of which they replace during maintenence any ways.

The problem is not to come up with the rules. It is keeping them. Looking at the other side (stock cars), they follow about a five year cycle. They start with a street division. Each year guys add little things, pretty soon you get 2-3 classes that look alike and run a lot alike. About 5 years later they kick out the top class and start a new street class. So your teacher must rule against improvements and progression. Recent history, the low cost focus program!
It happens everywhere, a good sprint is cheaper than a good micro.

I realize I am breaking the rules here but many motors are 15-16:1

You're an exception. hahahahaha Thanks for the info. We may need you again.

Actually ,we can amend the rules. Just tell us who you are and what the company/connection is.
