Default RIP Bob Hesser

I don't have many details, but photographer Bob Hesser passed on yesterday. He will be sorely missed by his drag racing and sprint car friends alike!

Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.

Anne

The fun-loving Bob Hesser...

I just heard about Bob's passing from Dennis K. Such a terrible loss for such a young guy. Bob was always friendly and welcoming when I would cross paths on trips out to Indiana. He really knew his stuff and wasn't cocky about it either. He always had advice when you needed it and a good story to share during breaks in the action. I'll miss our infield chats.

Condolences go out to his Wife Vicky and their kids.

I got to room with Bob about 3 years ago during the chili bowl and he is one of the reasons I am into shooting racing pictures, and someone I looked up to.

RIP Bob

I never met Mr. Hesser until I was working last year at Gas City. Found him to be a very nice guy. Thoughts are with his family.

The Hesser family is in our thoughts and prayers as they cope with their loss. Bob was an outstanding person and a true talent behind the lens -- such a pleasure to work with and always the professional.

RIP, Bob -- we'll miss you.

I met Bob at Hartford Speedway, MI in 1996 during the US nationals. We were both standing next to the fence near turn 4 where they pushed off the sprints. we both had instamatic cameras and were trying to take pictures of the sprints warming up thru the fence. Bob, the warm and genuine person he was, struck up a conversation with me and we became instant friends. I think it was prolly cuz I was the only other guy there with REALLY long hair (Bob used to have long hair he kept in a pony tail). He told me anytime I came to Winchester to look him up and he gave me his phone number, address, all that. I was kinda taken back. But I never forgot him. A few years later, I happened to be at Winchester Speedway. I had got a nicer camera and was just learning how to really use it. Up walks Bob with that wide smile. I got to where we'd see each other at almost all the USAC races I went to or anytime I went to Winchester (he was the track photographer there for a year or 2). He was someone I really looked forward to seeing in the pits over the years. He got really ill for a while and i didn't see him for a long time. Next time i saw him he cut all his hair off and was a bit more reserved. But he always was warm and genuine. I kinda lost track of him when he got into doing more of the Drag Racing circuit. We would bump into each other here and there over time. I was really proud of where he started from and where how far he had developed his craft. His success was inspirational to me. I am very saddened by this news and will miss him. He was truly a unique individual.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hesser family.

Mike and I would see Bob at NHRA and dirt sprint races. As others have already mentioned, he always had a story and a helping hand to share. He certainly will be missed.

God speed.
