UMRA Heads Back To Gas City

The cars and stars of the UMRA TQ Midgets will make their second appearance of 2009 at the Gas City I-69 Speedway on Friday night. In the first race at Gas City on May 29, it was Terry Goff taking his first of what is currently a series-leading three wins this season.
Fans will want to watch the battle which is raging atop the point standings as Terry Goff leads his brother Oogie by just 29 points heading into Gas City. Last Friday night at Bloomington it looked as if Oogie would take the points lead when Terry scratched due to motor problems after hot laps. However, Terry would jump into Trent Henderson’s #35 and charge from 19th to 3rd in the feature. The Bloomington feature went to Brent Turner for his second triumph of the season. Turner sits third in points and announced in victory lane that he is not yet ready to give up on winning the championship in 2009.
It will be another exciting night of racing with drivers going for the certificate from Dutch Mill Buffet in Millroy for the feature winner along with the G&G Oil “Hard Charger of the Race” with five gallons of fuel going to the driver that advances the most positions in the feature. The kids will also want to come out this Friday night because as always there will be a bike given away to a lucky youngster.
Gates open at four, practice at 6:30, and racing is set to begin at 7:30!

Should be a good race, the UMRA has always had a good show there, kind of neat watching 20 cars all in the same corner(s) at the same time, 3-4 wide.... Wish I could get there in time to watch, will have to wait untill Sunday this week for my fix and head to the Speedrome for Wanged Sprints and Formula Libre Midgets!
