Cockrum wins running away with it. Stornetta was second.

T Mez and Hopkins were involved in a yellow a couple laps in. Both restarted on the tail and worked their way through the the field. I wanna say Hopkins was 5th and Tmez 6th. I'll have to wait for official results though.

Very early in this race, AJ Hopkins kind of slid to a stop in the top of turn 1. Thomas Meseraull had no where to go, so also parked in that turn. And right as the yellow came out, Stevie Sussex pulled off the backstretch into the work area. So, almost immediately we had three of the fastest cars on the tail. Four really, adding in Jarrett Andretti who had won one of the B Mains to transfer into the feature. On the restart Kent Christian jumped out to the lead, but had Joe Stornetta and Shane Cockrum in tow. Stornetta was the first to try to take Kent's lead away and even though he threw a lot at him, Christian fought hard and maintained the point. And Joe's consolation prize for his fight for the lead was to then be under attack by Cockrum. Shane took second away and set sail for the leader. That was a hard fought battle, but when the smoke cleared we had a new leader. By this time, Stornetta had gotten some of his momentum back and was ready to launch another attack on Christian. This may have ended up being the best battle of the race, because even though Joe would end up prying the second spot away from Kent, the veteran driver was a tough, tough out. The sustained battle was costly to Stornetta, as Cockrum had driven away somewhat by the time it was over. As this was happening AJ Hopkins was well into his drive through the field and Andretti had passed many cars, as well. The highlight of the whole race though, was how Shane was skillfully knifing his way through lapped traffic. As hard as Joe was charging and as aggressively as he was attacking the backmarkers, he was making up little to no interval on the leader. About this time, there was a top 5 skirmish that had broken out when Hopkins made it all the way up to where Andretti was. There was a little contact entering the frontstretch and Hopkins appeared to come out of gear for a second or at least lost momentum briefly. T Mez was also making a late race run about this time. Shane Cockrum breezed to a victory and was impressive in doing so. Joe Stornetta Jr reminded us that he's a newcomer to the scene that everybody's going to know by the time this year's over. AJ Hopkins showed again that he has enormous talent and may be the most underrated driver in our racing scene. And Kent Christian proved that he is still a good and tough driver.

Good job by Joe Spiker and his crew. Mother Nature threatened to wash out the whole weekend, but still left us an option to go plop fifteen bucks down and see a real good sprint car race.
