Open Hoosier Tire Rule for Midgets This Friday at Gas City

An "open" Hoosier tire rule is in place for Friday night's USAC Midwest Thunder Midget Series event at Gas City I-69 Speedway. Cars must have a Hoosier tire on all four corners. The event offers a $5,000-plus purse, paying $1,200 to win. Bonus money ($100, $75 and $50) will be awarded to the top three USAC SpeeD2 midgets competing as well as mini-sprints. Pit gate opens at 3 p.m.; hot laps/group qualifying sessions begin at 6:35 for 410 sprints, followed by midgets. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m.
