XTREME SPEED CLASSIC
BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY
OCTOBER 1, 2011

****
HOLLY, Mich. – A robust field of more than 30 entries is taking shape for the TruFuel “Xtreme Speed Classic,” set for Saturday, Oct. 1 on the famed high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway. The inaugural event will feature the powerful winged sprint cars sanctioned by the BioBased.US Xtreme Sprint Series.
Open wheel racing legend Dave Steele will return to the cockpit for Bristol, joining a host of racers from around the U.S. who will take on a strong contingent of Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series regulars. Among the XSS top-10 in series points who have filed entries include Canadian Ryan Litt, JoJo Helberg of California, Jason Cox of Illinois; Aaron Pierce and Hank Lower from Indiana; Michigan’s Jeff Bloom, Jason Blonde, and Kyle Flint; and Ohio’s Jimmy McCune.
Other official entries include Florida’s Travis Miniea, Shane Butler and Colin Cabre; Indiana’s Brian Gerster, Brian Olson, Ryan Myers, Sondi Eden, Chris Nuenschwander, and Donnie Adams Jr.; Canadian Mike Ling; Tim Cox of Illinois; Ohio’s Jerry Caryer and Tom Tolbert; Missouri’sTodd Fayard and Michigan’s Dave Baumgartner, and Nathan Bevard, among others.
Competitors will be gunning for the $10,000 winner’s purse, with a minimum $1,000 paid to each car qualifying for the 25-lap feature.
The TruFuel “Xtreme Sprint Classic” marks a return of sorts to Bristol by XSS competitor Jason Blonde of Litchfield, Mich. Blonde earlier this year captured the unique “World’s Fastest Half-Mile Speed Trials” at the heralded half-mile, featuring timed competition between stock cars, a wingless sprint car, motorcycles, a winged supermodified, and Blonde’s XSS winged sprint car. Blonde ultimately captured the competition with a tour of the BMS high-banked half-mile in 13.245 seconds, an average of 144.871 mph. in the Suellen Wilshe BioBased.US sprinter.
The “Xtreme Speed Classic” will be televised on a tape-delayed basis, reaching over 90 million American households.
Based in Holly, Mich., the Xtreme Sprint Series features powerful winged sprint cars with 800-plus horsepower and are considered the world’s fastest short track racing machines.
