Just out of curiosity, how big is the Chili Bowl? Robin Miller's column says it's 3/8ths, but most articles I've seen say it is a short 1/4. I'd be most interested to hear drivers or crew chiefs tell us what other tracks they run with the same gear, etc.

It is a tight 1/4. No where near a 3/8's

The Hyper racing website has a gearing recommendation section with input from users. It recommends the same gear at the Expo Center as at Port City raceway in Oklahoma. It recommends just very slightly more gear at Tulsa than at Wayne County in Illinois. So I would say only very slightly smaller than Wayne County. Hope this helps.

I would compare the Chili Bowl with Port City . Port runs micros on a regular basis and it is a bull ring for them. It is a fun little track lots of good side by side racing.

They bill it as a 1/5th mile

My best guess is that the Duquoin indoor track would fit in the Chili Bowl infield

Belleville IL is a 1/5 mile, we run 680 to 698 gear
Chili bowl takes 712 so in my professional guestimation it is a 1/6th mile

I estimate about 100 highway barriers make up the outside wall by looking at some of the construction pictures. I have always thought about walking it some night and counting but have not . just don't know if they are 8' or 10 ' in length. those lengths would make it a small 6th or 5th around the outside. Whatever it really is it is just the right size.
