This used to be the Outlaws rule. I'm thought they made the miles apart number higher in 2010 but can't remember for sure. The rule below is from the 2005 rule book
Any World of Outlaws Platinum or Gold Member driver or car running a non- sanctioned 410 Winged Sprint Car event within a 48 hour period and a 250 mile radius of a sanctioned event will be deducted 250 points per infraction from the current point standings. Prior WoO written consent will not be unreasonably withheld. c If a World of Outlaws Platinum or Gold Member races a non-sanctioned 410 Winged Sprint Car race within 48-hours of a WoO event, the race must NOT be within 250 miles of the World of Outlaw event. The competitor’s name must not be included in any pre media or advertising. 250 point deduction....

I get the 48 hours before part of the rule but 48 hours after seems excessive imo. U don’t want your series guys going somewhere else the night before and tearing up a car or blowing motor and having to miss a series show. Not as big a deal the day after unless the primary concern is just splitting fan count.

IMO opinion it’s stupid. USAC did that back in the day and it was dumb then too. I agree with your point about after especially when their next race is Terre Haute Friday. But it’s ok I believe, Kokomo will be just fine without them. To me it actually hurts their brand, I think less of them now

In this case I think it’s stupid because youre preventing your drivers from big money, but in most cases it makes perfect sense. I wonder if the WoO was not running 2 shows in Indiana the very next week if the scenario would have been handled differently.

See the above comment about how USAC used to handle the situation. They were also protecting their brand long before " brand " became a big deal. |
