As some of you might have seen on Facebook and other dirt media outlets the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series released their 2018 Schedule yesterday.

Along with that was the announcement of the Dirt Million at Mansfield Motor Speedway that will be on the Lucas Oil Schedule for August 24th & 25th 2018.

Could a race like this work for Sprint Cars?
Read The article in the website link for the race - http://www.dirtmillion.com

I find it interesting to see how they plan to grow the payout.....
The initial Payout is $100,000 to win & $2,000 to start. The total payout could be raised up to a $1,000,000 with $500,000 to win & $10,000 to start though Sponsors, Fans, portion of Merchandise sales, portion of ticket sales, ect. The link above has the info on how this is planned to work. As a fan of both open wheel and fender racing. I like how Cody is thinking outside the box.

Just wondered what you open wheel folks thought....

I think you might be right. I just find it interesting on how they plan to raise the payout and wondered if it world work for a Sprint Car race.. I know Eldora had the Mopar Million but this doesn't start out as a million to win. It initially start's out at $100,000K. Sort of different. But I like the outside of the box thinking.

I think we still need to find out if it will work for late models. I do think it is strange when they call it a million even though it is not really close to it. I like when people add extra to make shows interesting, but not sure I like when the track is planning on it before it is offered. I guess we will see...

A million dollar purse was won last Saturday nite. Marvin Musquin of France won all three motos of the monster energy million supercross race. Only the second time someone won all three motos to win the million bucks. That's a nice off season bonus there.

The Mopar Million paid $200,000.00 to win, $125,000.00 for 2nd and an even $100,000.00 for 3rd. The Mopar Million paid $10,000.00 to start.

I'll wish them luck in getting anywhere near a million bucks.... and my first thought was what will general admission be when it was $30 last Friday for a 1 division show paying $5K to win?

I’m sure it will be higher than a normal big $ show. I believe mopar million was $80 (about double the big Eldora shows) but it was worth the $
