Happy Thanksgiving to all, and may everyone be safe and enjoy the day with their loved ones, and to those whose duty is such they you can't be with family and loved ones please know that a mostly grateful nation thanks you.
Austin, we had the good fortune of going West to SoCal for Turkey Night at The PAS back in 2012 and it is was the best damned Thanksgiving we ever had. We were 2000 miles from home but the Thanksgiving spirit was as strong as I ever recall it to be. There was a certain bond amongst the people in the grandstands. I think is was comforting for all of us to know there were so many other people who were the same kind of semi-sane race fans that would go to a race on Thanksgiving Night.
We considered ourselves a special kind of crazy since we flew 2000 miles for 3 short days for no other reason but to attend a dirt track midget race. That said, I'd do it every Thanksgiving if I could!
Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.
