People often ask the question "who would b on ur Rushmore of sprintcar racing?" My question goes in a different direction . U can insert any driver name in the spot that I use this guys name if u want . My question is .... Why is Danny Smith never on anyone's list for Rushmore?" He's not on mine but I think he should b considered. Maybe we need to add another head on this big rock ?

It's so hard to compare drivers from different eras, if I was pressed I would have to say:
Steve Kinser Dick Gaines AJ Foyt Sammy Swindell Jerry

Hinnershitz,Foyt , Steve Kinser, Rich Vogler, Jack Hewitt, Pancho Carter, Gary Bettenhausen, Sammy, Larry Dickson, Tom Bigelow, Bob Kinser, this is just for starters. If it's my Rushmore, I'll make it as big as I want.

Mt.Rushmore is an iconic tribute to greatness and the greatest spectacle in racing is The Indianapolis 500....so..mine will include the 3 men that won The 500 4 times (AJ, Big Al, and "THE Rocket"): with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo being the 4th.

No real reason other than my own familiarity w/ these guys and my perception of them being good shoes but not an automatic in conversation about the greatest of greats.
My "what about this guy" Rushmore is: Kerry Norris, Frankie Kerr, Steve Butler, Ricky Hood. |
