August 30th Midget Event Kicks Off Busy Open-Wheel Midget and Sprint Schedule at the Montpelier Motor Speedway

When the Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series takes to the track on Saturday, August 30th, it will kick off not only an aggressive slate of Midget racing at MMS through early October, but lead into the much anticipated return of Sprint Cars to MMS with the inaugural visit of the BOSS – Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series on September 6th.

The series' schedule and competition will heat up for the remainder of the season with 5 different events scheduled through early October (August 30, September 13, September 20, September 27, and October 11) heading towards the culmination of a series champion. The Leaders Edge of Indianapolis is the presenting title sponsor for the Midget series.

2013 Fort Wayne Rumble Winner, Justin Peck, became the 13th different winner in the 17 events hosted at MMS with his triumph on July 26th. Previous series and MTQRL winner, Tate Martz (Steele #2) has parlayed back to back runner up finishes to become the series point’s leader with 5 remaining events. With an early season that was plagued with track construction and followed later by rainouts, former series champion, Lynsey Liguori, has picked up the series’ other loan win this season.

The event will feature the Montpelier’s Midget Series which features full size Midgets and power plants and allows a platform for other engines including Focus, Ecotech, and Motorcycle powered entries to compete utilizing an unlimited weight break and additional tire width. The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series features an open tire brand and compound rule.

Watson Racing is sponsoring a $100 cash award for the highest finisher powered by Focus, Ecotech, or Motorcycle power plants. The Sportsman winner of this award on August 30th will be guaranteed to make a minimum of $200/$250(with 21 Midgets).

Intermission during the event will feature a kids/family autograph and photo session where families will be allowed into the pits to collect autographs and view the cars up close during the break in action. There will also be a free kids raffle where two lucky kids will take home brand new bikes.

General Admission will be a great value for fans at only $12 with Kids (12 and Under) - FREE!

We have had a few questions about the kids portion of the program. With the autograph session, we will allow anyone in the main grandstands the opportunity to go back into the pits to meet drivers, get autographs, take pictures during the intermission only. This is a very popular event at MMS. As you driver, you can merely sign an autograph when asked. A lot of other drivers take it step further having a bucket of candy, autograph cards, etc... for the kids. Most of our diehard families have been back to see the mods and stock cars at our other events. This will be for a lot of them the first time to be able to see a Midget up close.

We will clear the fans back into the main grandstands before starting the feature so we will have the families back to safety and out of the push off area to get the Midgets started.

What an awesome race track last night! Smooth, tacky and fast, apron to rim. Congrats to Justin; he had his elbows up every time he went by me (I think it was four..). Good Job by Doug & Dad, taking Greg's hundred after rolling in so late they had to unload out in the mosquito hatchery up in turn two and switch from a wing to a non-wing setup. Good to see the Chain Gang strongly represented; it was actually 4, not 3: me, Doug, Colin Parker and Pat Mead. I had a good dice with Pat early in our heat, proving the old Suzuki can pull off the corners with a more modern R1, but in both the heat and feature fell victim to two correctable errors; a missed setup (too loose in the heat, too tight in the Featch)and driver fatigue. Fixing one will help the other a little; a well-setup car is much less taxing to drive than one you have to fight with massive applications of steering & throttle input, but I still need to get my butt into exercise mode.
Wonder if PitFit has a Senior discount?
