It was a great feature again tonight at Bloomington. Kent Christian dominated the first half of the race. Then Nick Bilbee charged to the front, returning to the form that enabled him to win at VCS last year, over Jon Stanbrough. After that, Holtsclaw took control of the race, after starting 9th, but not without several bouts with Bilbee, who was also flying around the top, trying the get his lead back. Being repeatedly blocked by a lapped car is ultimately what took Nick out of contention. Brady Short then stepped into the runner up spot, briefly taking the lead, himself, until the yellow came out and he had to give it back. Then, on the final restart, Brady made several bold attempts to regain the lead, only to be rebuffed by Holtsclaw, who was going about high as you can go, up onto the turn two cushion, without going over the edge, to rocket back into the lead. That move on the final lap is what secured the victory. A great effort was also turned in by Coleman Gulick, who finished the race in the lead pack, from his 11th place starting position.

Another great night at Bloomington Speedway in what I hope is an appetizer for the main course tomorrow night, as the USAC Sprint Division invades Lincoln Park Speedway!

Has Jerry driven that car any in the past? Just curious as to why he was driving it tonight. Wasn't Darren Hagen driving it last?
