I got to do push truck duty at a Must See Race locally & they did something I never saw before, 1/2 the cars on front stretch & other 1/2 on the back stretch. The track we were at was a really wide 3/8th & I enjoyed doing it, have other tracks done this?? Firing off the cars went really quick & I thought that was good for the fans

It depends on the track most times. If there is not a good push lane where the trucks can turn around and grab another car quickly, they will put them all on the track first, then start to push. Not many pavement tracks have enough push trucks, let alone a good push lane. It may take as long to push all the cars on the track, then fire them off, but it saves a bit of fuel, so no one is fighting to be the last in line. Many dirt tracks will do this also, I guess we just do not see it as often cause the more sprint car friendly tracks have enough trucks.

We did it at Kokomo for the BC Memorial on the front stretch. Goes well if coordinated well. We fired the cars spread out around the track in Volusia and that was more like a red flag restart. It does save time but can be tougher cause the margin for error is smaller.

Tri State usually does 1/2 on front and 1/2 on back. Seems to work well

Haubstadt has done it for at least 3 years now and it works out great

I was thinking Haubstadt did it back in the mid 70's, when they ran sprints and tin tops, they pitted them on the front and back straights, just where you came thru the gate I guess, we used to stop by there on the way home from some western race we had been to, you could see a lot in a couple of hrs, relief flagman and all, get in, get on, it won't last long, didn't even have time to hold your breath! I believe Lawrenceburg does a very efficient job at this.

I would estimate TSS can push off a field of 22 like this in about 5 minutes.

At TSS we have timed this more than once... 1 minute and 30-40 seconds.
