Montpelier Motor Speedway Hosts Inaugural BOSS Event Sept 6th

The Buckeye Machine - Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series is set for another invasion of the Hoosier state this Saturday night, September 6th. The regional traditional sprint car series will be making its first ever visit to the historic Montpelier Motor Speedway in downtown Montpelier, Indiana. If other "first time visits" by the BOSS series at tracks in 2014 are any indication, then a capacity crowd and an overflow pit area can be expected.

The newly remodeled quarter mile oval has not played host to sprint cars in over 4 years. With strong local support expected from area race teams, the BOSS tour has been known to bring upwards of 20 cars from the Buckeye state alone. So track and series officials are looking forward to an excellent field of cars representing several different states.

Mike Miller of Wapakoneta, Ohio will lead the series regulars into battle Saturday night as the series points leader. Miller holds a slim 14 point advantage over Russiaville, Indiana driver Dustin Smith who was the 2012 series champion. Only 53 points back sits Evans City, Pennsylvania driver Brandon Spithaler who has won twice in 2014 and is seeking to make history as no driver has yet to win 3 features in one season along the tour. Spithaler, with multiple winged championships under his belt, will be making his first ever appearance at Montpelier. Also still in the championship battle, trailing by 76 markers, is Michael Fischesser of Cincinnati, Ohio who will also be making his first ever Montpelier appearance.

Also representing the BOSS tour will be Logan Hupp of Columbus, Indiana driving the Marshall Motorsports #2M. Hupp, like Spithaler, will be eyeing that elusive 3rd win in BOSS competition Saturday night as he has scored victories at Lernerville Speedway and Whitewater Valley Speedway. Hupp's teammate in the Marshall Motorsports #32M will also be in competition as he is in a battle with Perrysburg, Ohio veteran driver Chuck Wilson battling for a coveted top 5 spot in the point standings.

Throw in the likes of Joe Liguori, Aaron Middaugh, Chad Wilson, Bob McMillin, Adam Miller, Joe Butera, Scott Hardman, George Willard, Steve Little and Andy Fike and the BOSS regulars nearly comprise a full field alone. However, social media posts have seen several teams from another racing organization planning to try to defend their home state turf against the BOSS regulars.

The standard BOSS purse will be in effect paying $1500 to win and $250 to start. All teams attempting to compete and failing to start the A-Main will be guaranteed $100. The complete A-Main payoff is listed below. In addition, the heat race events will pay the top 4 finishers in the amounts of $40, $30, $20, and $10 courtesy of BOSS heat race sponsors: Burdette Builders of Sunman, Indiana, Lias Tire/American Racer of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Fast Signs of Dayton, Ohio, Kistler Engines of Fremont, Ohio and Indy Race Parts of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bonus awards will also be up for grabs. The Bridge Restaurant of Sidney, Ohio is offering $50 to the "Hard Charger" of the main event. Lynn Cook "A Racer's Friend" is awarding $50 to the "Hard Luck" driver of the night. Hochstetler Auto and Truck Repair of Ashland, Ohio will be supplying $50 to the highest finishing steel block engine. Rusty and Cappie McClure of Ashland, Ohio will be awarding the "lucky pill draw" to a random team, for a free pit pass and hot dogs for the pit crew!

As always, the Buckeye Machine BOSS events are OPEN tire rule. However, teams competing on all 4 of a specific brand will be eligible for tire bonuses. Lias Tire and American Racer have teamed up to supply a free tire to the highest finisher on all four American Racers and Hoosier Tire Midwest will also be supplying a free tire to the highest finisher on all four Hoosier Racing Tires.

Pits will be cleared at 2:45 pm on Saturday and gates will officially open at 3:00 pm. Pill draw will be at the BOSS registration tent which will open at 3:30. Drivers meeting will be at 5:00 pm with hot laps immediately following. Racing action is set to begin at 6:30. As always with BOSS there are no registration fees or entry fees of any kind. Pit passes will be $30 with general admission set at $15 for ages 13 and up. Kids 12 and under will be free. For teams, no mufflers are required and transponders will be free courtesy of Montpelier Speedway!

Come out and be a part of history as the last true outlaw sprint car series tackles one of the nation's oldest race tracks! The Buckeye Machine BOSS non wing sprint cars along with the UMP Modifieds, Super Streets, and Thunder Cars for only $15!

BOSS A-Main complete payoff: $1500, 800, 700, 600, 500, 450, 400, 375, 350, 325, 300, 290, 280, 270, 260, 250, 250, 250, 250, 250. (20 car A-Main) Field may be increased at track promoters discretion

Just a couple of things for tomorrow’s BOSS program:

Gate Times
Spectator Gates will open at 3:00PM. Please be courteous when marking seats as we will have a capacity crowd and want to make sure everyone has a good and comfortable seat to view the races. The drivers meeting will occur at 5:00 with hot laps to follow.

Methanol
We do have Methanol for sale at the track. The fuel dealer will be located diagonal from the restrooms in a red trailer.

Media Credentials
Those needing media credentials (1 only) please email bemcevoy@yahoo.com by 8:00PM Friday your name, web addresses/media location. In exchange for the credential, the Montpelier Motor Speedway may use the photographs, videos, or new stories within their website or social media for promotional purpose without payment. All work will be credited to the original owner.

Pit Parking
Sprint pit parking will be on the south ends of the pits near the track entrance. For the safety of those in the pits, we ask that only Sprint cars and their crews pit in this area. We will have a large roped off area to indicate this area and will have staff members directing traffic to this area.
