Ben Quinones, fast qualifier in the winged outlaw modified midgets, crashed into the backstretch fencing and adjacent photographers stand during the first heat race. No injuries, according to preliminary reports. Photographers no longer are in that stand.

Photographers are a smart lot. They know when it's time to move.

If Ft. Wayne was indeed a 1/6th mile, that would work out to 76.6 mph. Sorry, but if the midgets were turning laps in the high nine second bracket at Du Quoin--which likely is pretty close to a 1/6th--I find it hard to believe that the lap times were two seconds faster at Ft. Wayne. Coke syrup is sticky, but it's not supernatural.

Even Roman Chariots ran non-wing, and on dirt. Hail Caesar!

Stewart wins! Stanbrough 3rd. Darland had some car issues and did not finish.

The track at Ft. Wayne is much smaller than the track at Duquoin. If Duquion is truly a 1/6, I'd say Ft. Wayne is more like 1/8.
