Another good reason why this fan stays home.

Still waiting to watch the 2013 Knoxville Nationals on TV.

Escalating costs play a big role also. I also know for a fact that many fans prefer the classic body styles of the past and really liked it back in the 90's when a bunch of teams ran them. It was those god aweful pavement cars that started all this so that proves looks do matter. I've been on both sides of the fence and believe me most owners could care less what fans think. As far as getting owners back...I'm all for the idea of USAC contacting them and trying to schmooze them back, but not just the rich ones, the fillers should have just as much say or more. They should discuss any major series rule changes BEFORE imposing them.
Ask Sean Buckley (Jackslash) Why he don;t do USAC races anymore

Once again, there is no conspiracy on why there is not dirt track racing on TV. It is not USAC's fault, or the WOO's fault, or ESPN's fault. It is a case of money. If there was money to be made putting dirt track racking on TV, everyone would be doing it. TV execs are just like race promoters. They want to have a product that is going to be profitable.

The one exception to the rule is MAVtv which for all intent and purposes in just a glorified infomercial for Lucas Oil Products.

Finally, we all have illusions of grandeur of watching Thursday Night Thunder. It was some great TV for us race fans. The other thing that it had was excitement. Watching a tape delay of a race that happened a month ago has very little excitement. I find most of the tape delay races hard to watch because there is no excitement. If it is hard for a die hard fan to get excited about a race, how do we expect it to hook in a casual fan.

Whenever I think of TV coverage, at 'our' level, I am reminded of the old saying "That ship has sailed". Meaning, it's gone, and it ain't comin' back.
