I understand where this guy is coming from, I remember how pi#$@% I was when the transponder deal came about, I also agree with the people that say it is worth it. (straddling the fence here) I also know this will affect a lot of people on weather they go thru the gate or not, what about the cars that are not going to show because the track is bigger? I heard the guy that called in on the radio (700 WLW) show the other night say he was not going back because of the change in size. We will be there for the big show and until then I have no opinion on the change. (doubt we run many regular shows as it is to hard on motors) As far as the stimulus check did you guys now we borrowed this money from China and this is not free and clear as they are fronting us next years tax check. ( I will not get started on that again) Things are hard for all of us and I think track owners are going to have a hard year as people just do not have the money they had before. I know for a fact this year is an all or nothing for Spencer Racing as we have come to close to losing everything we own to chase Josh's dream. Thanking for listening to me ramble. :checkered:

Jerry,
I hadn't considered the new track size would be a factor in the success of the new facility, but you would know best. I do know that we had a similar situation in PA with the Super Sportsman. When Silver Spring closed and the Sportsmen went to the Grove, car count went from 50+ to 30 something. I hope that doesn't happen there.

Everybody has valid points. Who wants to pay more for something? Not me. What promoter wants to lose money? I'm not a promoter, but if I was one I would say "not me." Fuel prices are high and going higher - whether its gasoline, deisel, or methanol. What can you do?

Pick and choose is the only solution. I love racing but I also love to eat and have a roof over my head. I will be more selective as to what races to attend.

If you think prices at the 'burg are too high - do what the truckers did yesterday - protest - don't buy a race a ticket - vote with your wallet as they say.

Dave Rudisell has just as much right to raise prices as you do to not go to a race there.

I look for $15 to be the going rate for all tracks within the next year or two.

I think the new track size and banking will affect the car counts eventually, if not right away, whether it be racers simply not showing up or, through attrition via the new concrete wall and higher speeds. The old track was much more forgiving. If you messed up you simply went over the bank. Cars do tend rollover more times when there is nothing to break the chain of flips but, on the other hand, there was no wall or catch fence to throw you back onto the racing surface in front of traffic (which scares me to Death as a father). One thing we know for sure is that the methanol bill will be higher and possibly the tire bill. I guess tire wear will depend on how they prepare the surface. I hope we get through the year safely and with our equipment intact. Like Jerry and Josh, we're about done if we break it again. I hope the new version of the "Burg" turns out to be very safe for everyone and a huge success. I love Lawrenceburg and grew up at Lawrenceburg Speedway. I guess it's simply wait and see for all of us.

It will not be long when we find out if what drivers have said for a long time is true, "We will race for nothing" and "If now one was in the stands would you still be able to race"

So if myself and my 2 sons come over, i'm looking at $29 before I even walk in the gate...OUCH!!

I'm not a weekly supporter of L'burg, but in the past I have been there as many as 12 times a year, that did not happen in 07 because of the kids prices, and it will definately not happen in 08 with the new adult prices at the Burg.

In a day and time when folks are having to scrape up money to do anything extra, L'burg does this to it's fans. If they are charging $15 for regular shows, I can't imagine how much they will charge for their WOO, Sprint Week and Lucas races...I know someone will get on here and say if you can't afford it, don't go, well I can afford it, but that's not the point, if enough of the folks that can't afford it don't go, before long there won't be a L'burg Speedway to not go to...

Dave are you guys giving away alot of free adult tickets and having raffles and giveaways for adults now too, because you did all that for kids was your reasoning for overcharging for them...

the dirty one!!!

Buddy, Im not complaining one bit. When the promotor only breaks even or looses money on a local show, You have to do something.

In comparison, 1989 Winged sprint show with simular purse (Even less through the park) the cost of a ticket was 17.

Movie Ticket: 10.00

Its a couple bucks higher but he also does a lot more things for the fans than most tracks. Concessions are still reasonable and

#1 reason your probably paying more here than other local tracks. YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN COOLER and even you own beer (IF your on the backstraight)

#2 reason is he knocked off a class of race cars that the back gate actually made a profit.

I B*tch too about not being able to bring a cooler into tracks like KOKOMO and GAS CITY but if they can't make a dime without the rule, Whats the point in working four days a week for nothing or even loosing money?

Not bashing you. The prices in the early 90s did cause several familys not to visit on a regular basis.

15 bucks, Thats about two gallons of gass these days.

If it was 20 or 25 for a regular show, I'd probably wouldn't visit but 15 bucks is the best entertainment value in greater cincinnati (BY FAR)

Kings Island 49.50
Museum center 9 dollars times three to do it all plus 7 for a special exihbit.

Movie 9 dollars plus 6.50 popcorn and 7 dollar coke

Reds 9 dollars (Cheap seat) 9 dollar parking. 4 dollar hot dog and 7 dollar beer.

Bengals 38.50 for nose bleed and 20 dollar parking

Im not bashing you. Hell it cost me 25 dollars in gas to do the 80 mile round trip to get there and back. The actual cost of the race is MINOR.

Understanding but its the same way with everything
Chuck, who says if you can't afford to go to a race, You probably can't do any of the other things and (I UNDERSTAND THAT TOO!) :respect::greenflag:

Don't worry, I won't be going, and when alot of fans don't go, and the place closes because of it, then it'll be an empty firstclass facility...

And Al, your online inflation calculater, does it factor in what the tracks in the area are charging and the fact that L'burg is pricing themselves out of business????

the dirty one!!!

I made the other post before realizing who was posting. Weren't you banned before?

BTW, Do you realize it will cost Dave and company twice as much in equiptment fuel as last year. For lighting probably ten times as much.

Hes raising the addmission far less than his actual cost are going up.

Chuck, Who hasn't even checked what his cost will be to get in ELDORA saturday. IT's SOMETHING I WANT TO DO and did without a few things to BE ABLE TO DO IT.
