National Midget Driver of the Year
"Division Two Midget Driver of the Year Award announced"

Milwaukee, WI Dec. 4---Officials of the National Midget Driver of the Year Championship announced the expansion of their program to now include the inaugural Division Two Midget Driver of the Year for the 2016 season and beyond. The program will allow several hundred drivers to compete for a major open wheel championship and includes all Division 2 / 2.4 Liter type midget race events.

”This segment of our sport is fast growing and we felt it was time to put a program like the NMDOTY & Western Midget DOTY in place for these competitors” commented Bryan Gapinski founder and director of the NMDOTY.

“I believe this will help consolidate and improve the working relationships between the associations, along with increasing car counts, creating the same results seen with the NMDOTY. This third championship completes the portfolio of midget racing series for us. It will not distract or take away from the NMDOTY, which remains our number one focus” said Gapinski.

The recently completed 2015 national midget racing season marked the seventeenth season of the NMDOTY. Tanner Thorson captured the NMDOTY title, with 502 drivers scoring points at 156 events, nationwide. Frankie Guerinni won the third Western Midget DOTY Championship. The current website: www.nmdoty.com will carry updated points, schedule and all news for the Division Two Series. Further information will be announced by mid-January.

The top ten NMDOTY drivers, car owner champion along with Manufacturers Champions, Rookie of the Year and Western Champion will receive their point fund checks and trophies, in the annual ceremony held during the final night of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals on Jan. 16, 2016.
