I was there for that one!!! Those used to be on Wednesday nights. Just a couple of years later and Sammy Swindell and Nance1 n would win it without the wings.

I was there too. Before that, I saw Sammy win it in the Bobby Davis Electric car. Do you remember when Bob De Schamps from ASA promoted an annual Wednesday race? It used to draw huge crowds and fields.

Barely, those are the ones when Ferkel, Amati, Bubby, Gaines, etc… would show up. If I remember correct did they not unload the cars and tires in the infield like Terre Haute for those.

Seem like I remember that, but like you said I was pretty young. I remember seeing Steve Kinser race in one of the first Wednesday shows. He crashed hard going into 3. I remember all the old guys sitting around us grumbling that just because he was Bobby Kinser's kid didn't mean he could drive a race car, and he will never make it. Guess they were wrong. Bob Kinser told me years later, that was Steve's second time in a car.

I always wonder (I’m sure Funk and a few others do) how many people realize how many Kokomo Speedway track championships. Bob Kinser had?
Just don’t hear much about that anymore. I think it’s pretty incredible still.

I would like to have a dollar for every feature win.
