From Terre Haute Promoter.

After much debate, we are unable to locate a viable date for rescheduling the USAC Racing #SumarClassic event, previously postponed on May 7th.

The event has officially been canceled.

I have been looking at the schedule since the rainout. Not much room for a date that would not be a big money loser.

It won't do anything for this year, but this event needs a scheduled raindate. This is such a signature race at a historical track yet it is rained out more than its run.

But does it???? Rainout dates work well when you have a large pre-race ticket sales. It also works well when you have a captured audience. (People traveling a long distance and waiting for a specific event that is in the future.) There are very few races that check those boxes. After those two examples, rainout dates are usually a money loser for the promoter. This is why rain out dates have become a thing of the past.

It should have been run Tuesday of sprint week. Would have had a big crowd.

I may be mistaken but I thought May 7 was the rain date. Wasn't the Sumar originally scheduled for April this year?

I think it was April 16th if i remember correctly. Was gonna be a 3 race weekend.. USAC sprints Friday at Bloomington, same on Saturday at Haubstadt and Silver Crown Sunday at Terre Haute.

Without a confirmed rain date making up a USAC event has two chances: Slim, none. Not slap against USAC but the calendar is so full these days
