Simon Scores BOSS Win Over Dynamic SOS Field

With a stellar field of 18 non wing sprint cars representing 7 different states, Tipp City, Ohio driver Landon Simon stormed to his first career sprint car feature win aboard the Chris Simon Racing #45 sponsored by Claxton Engines, Ham Signs, and Simpson Race Products and prepared by his brother Nick Simon. The feature event was marred by only a single red flag for a melee off turn #4 on the second lap that found Mark Cassella doing some aerial antics that eliminated him from the show. From that point on, the main event ran caution free as some of the best wingless drivers in the midwest put on some of the closest sprint car racing the Southern Ohio Speedway fan's could ask for.

Aaron Middaugh and Simon brought the field to the green flag in the 25 lap main event and Simon used his front row starting spot to blitz to a commanding early lead. Meanwhile, back in the pack, Hanford, California native Chad Boespflug was electrifying the Southern spectators after starting 9th. The former SCRA and Lawrenceburg Speedway champion mounted a charge that saw him on 3 wheels, 2 wheels, and sometimes 1 wheel as he methodically charged to the front. Local favorite Adam Strausser from Piketon, Ohio had a spirited battle with Pennsylvania native Brandon Spithaler as they waged a torrid battle all race long that found Indiana driver Dustin Smith and BOSS point runner-up Tony Beaber all battling for a spot in the top 5.

With Simon setting a blistering pace, early race runner-up Aaron Middaugh went pitside with rear end failure. Boespflug found himself mired among the war being waged in the top 5 as Westerville, Ohio's Kirk Jeffries began to put together a great late race run. Over the closing laps, Boespflug wrestled away a clear second and set sail for Simon, desperately needing a caution that would never come. Simon rode on to victory over his good racing friend Chad Boespflug with Adam Strausser finishing a great 3rd place and Kirk Jeffries up to finish 4th and Brandon Spithaler rounding out the top 5 finishers. Dustin Smith, Tony Beaber, Chuck Wilson, Mike Galajda and Josh Slone rounded out the top 10.

The BOSS tour now moves on to Lawrenceburg Speedway for night #2 of the doubleheader weekend. The series has now seen 6 different winners in 6 races. Will Lawrenceburg produce a 7th? A stout field of Lawrenceburg regulars are expected to defend the home turf as the BOSS regulars come calling.
