When I ran an 08 R1 the temp was 230+ with a standard single-pass radiator and it would lose 1/2 the water in a race. I switched to the largest triple-pass I could fit and the temp dropped to 195 and no water loss. I also added an oil cooler with a fan and oil dropped to 250 on a tacky track... 220 on slick.

I did away with all the stock crap on my R1, and just welded -12AN fittings to the pipework at both the inlet and outlet sides of the motor. The size of the -12AN hose is about the same size as most restrictor plates, so I added nothing to the system to replace the thermostat that I eliminated. Put a fan control in the top of the radiator. I run the factory Henchcraft ducting in front of the radiator. Did not have a single cooling issue all last season, even on the hottest summer day.

I have run an 08 R1 in my lightning sprint for the last 3 years. Run on achohol with Rosson injection, with stock thermostat and Foz upright radiator , no ducting and no fan with 50/50 water and antifreeze and never over 200 degrees. Having built many types of custom cars, the radiator is everything in cooling any car. Call Speedparts and get a good radiator. I think it was about $280 3 years ago. Can take pictures of it if you want. Steve in Colorado.
