Just went to (2) night of WoO at the Devils Bowl in Mesquite. Had the opportunity to see James McFadden earn $20K for winning hot laps, as I'm pretty sure thats what I watched all night. I'm not sure there was a single pass in the (3) heat races, and little to no passing in the feature.

I wasn't expecting anything else, and since the track is about 45min away from the house figured I had to go. Myself, pops and a pseudo grandpa Don "Spike" Spiess were at the very first Outlaw races back in '78, just wished I remembered more. So it's basically a tradition to head to the bowl even if the racing isn't really racing.

Still was a hell of a lot better than sitting at home.

one thing you’ll never see with the Outlaws is a draggy show with too many support divisions and fans have appreciated it since 1978.

No class of cars would of had passing at Devil's Bowl last night. The track had too much moisture in it and was one lane. The cushion never got past halfway up because it was too heavy. If it's that heavy for the USAC shows the racing will be no passing for them also.

True on the heavy track. I can't remember the last time I saw them work the track during an event so was a bit surprised by that.

If told something enough time’s your supposed to believe it.
I do agree with the message above that the passing wouldn’t have been much better wingless, but the racing would’ve been closer. The air just has such a great effect on the car behind. I hope they have the same track when USAC is there so we can compare

I was very close to riding my motorcycle there from sw Ohio but the weather Thursday and Sunday for the ride home kept me from it. I wouldn’t have expected great racing but would still like to go just for the history
