Hi all:

We have run 600's for the last 5 seasons and will begin running sprint cars this season. I know we will need a push vehicle so I am asking for recommendations. I've seen a wide variety at Kokomo and Gas City as we were there for the Smackdown and King of Wings shows. Any thoughtful suggestions on make, size and model would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Len

You can do it with almost anything. I have seen cars pushed to staging by 90 cc quads. A 250 does decent. These will not start a car and aren't as comfortable for the rider. A 400 4wd does great. I have an old beat up 250 and my helpers do not like it when they have to push out onto the track for the feature. So basically, if the budget isn't tight and the trailer isnt tight, get a bigger one.

I agree with rhody anything will work mostly depends on budget and trailer space

I used a 90cc 2stroke for my TQ, and a lot of times to help sprints who had more than one car, or theirs had layed down, even at Bloomington, where you had to push against the stagger, into the chute. It didn't take up much room in the trailer, wasn't a lot of trouble to learn to operate, I was well pleased with it.

I use a Honda recon 250 to push my sprint around. Works great and is cheap to fix when it needs anything.

Avoid the cheap Tao Tao and other Chinese "125"cc quads. They are really 90cc basically, they are terrible quality and will struggle to push a sprint in a straight line on pavement. Just trust me on that one!

We use a Polaris 325 two wheel drive. I tell the wife to use low range for pushing. It has worked great for us and hasn't cost us a dime after we bought it.

I use a two legged 27 year old. It gets cranky and doesn't work well on uphill slopes, but with help we manage.

If you have room a golf cart works well. Big advantage to them is anyone can operate one

We bought a used Honda Foreman 450 4x4 for our 305 sprint and it does everything we want, including start the car if necessary.
