From USSA's "The Racing Line":

USSA to Sanction Anderson Speedway’s
Glen Niebel Classic Sprint Car Race

USSA and Officials of Anderson Speedway have
announced that the United States Speed Association
will sanction the Glen Niebel Classic Sprint Car race
to be held on the high banks on Sunday April 29.
The USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series will join the
Sprint cars for a full day of open wheel action.

The Sprint Car portion of the event will be conducted
under the car rules used for Anderson Speedway’s
Pay Less Little 500, including the Hoosier Tires used
for the “Little 500”. The event is an opportunity for
cars to tune up for the Pay Less Little 500 as well as
for non-winged pavement sprint cars to have a place
to race.

“We are grateful to Rick Dawson and Anderson
Speedway for the opportunity to sanction the Glen
Niebel Classic Sprint Car race,” said Don Kenyon,
USSA’s President. “It gives us a chance to help fill
the hole that has been left in pavement sprint car
racing,” he explained.

Fans who have never attended a non-winged sprint
car race at Anderson Speedway owe it to
themselves to make the trip. The 800+ horsepower
cars are not only very fast, they put on a tremendous
show for the fans with passes being made at both
ends of the speedway as well as down the front and
back straights.

The USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series will feature the
Kenyon Car Midgets, full size midgets racers
powered by Yamaha engines, traditionally featuring
close racing and plenty of excitement from the green
to checkered flags.

events and Little 500 rules, visit

Very Cool. Thanks to the Kenyons for filling that void for non-winged pavement sprints that was left by USAC.

Thanks to Anderson and the Kenyons for giving us a shot at running the sprint car in 2012. I was really hoping someone would step up and give all the owners a chance to run them this year.

Glad this race is going to happen. Now the big question will be, how many guys will bring out there little 5 cars. I enjoy watching Chet Phillip, would love to see the boat twice this year!

This is a great idea!!! Really looking forward to this event....and hopefully more events like this to come. Non-wing pavement sprintcar racing needs someone besides USAC to step up. Kudos to USSA and the Kenyons!

This is great news! Big thank you to the Kenyon's and Anderson Speedway! Who votes for let's just go ahead and make it 500 laps with 11 rows of 3? Haha Hope to see all of you there!
