From what little I know about the law (cough, cough), nobody forced Mr. Sides to agree to WoO rules for their points fund, travel money or contingency dollars at the start of the season. He obviously knew what the rules were if he even had to ask for permission. If he wants to participate in the up side ($$$), he has to play by their rules. Right?
I understand what your saying... however, WoO should have called him back like they said they would.

Then what about the fact that Shatz and one of the KKR cars ran the event with no penalties???? Favoritism???? something is just fishy

That's the kicker right there at the end. If the other two cars that ran the unauthorized race are not subject to the same punishment, then WoO are way out of line and can expect to lose a lawsuit. If all three teams are penalized, then Jason has no leg to stand on. It doesn't say if the other teams were penalized as well, but implies they weren't. Anybody got the scoop?

Perhaps the other teams ask to run and got the ok...maybe WOO doesn't want every member to race anyrace so they only ok one or two.the first one or two to request..or maybe they treat it like a provisional and allow based on points standings..i don't know what the contract reads...Sides did -he ask-they didn't approve the request- he raced anyway...the penalty seems tough...but it's contract law when it goes before a judge

Two other World of Outlaw teams were racing that same non-sanctioned race, the #9 car and the #15, so I showed up and raced…didn’t do very well, though ! The next thing I know, the World of Outlaws come around and tell me they are cutting my tow money in half, cutting my pit passes in half and not going to pay me my Driver and Owner Point Fund money at the end of the year. They told me that regardless of where I finish in the points [currently 6th] they are only gonna pay me last place money. That’s about a $40,000 difference, and I am not going to roll over on a $40,000 ‘fine’ just because Brian Carter was too busy or didn’t want to call me back. We will let a jury decide whether what they are doing to me is right. I’ve supported this Series for a long, long time. In the years I’ve raced with the Outlaws, I’ve ran 100% of their races. If they think they can just keep my money that I’ve worked all year for, and that I’ll just whimper back to Tennessee, they’re wrong. Maybe they’ll change their minds before the Banquet, but right now they don’t even return phone calls. If they pay me my money, great. Otherwise, I’m suing them.”
In addition to his Rookie of the Year honor, Jason was the famed King’s Royal victor in 2004, and has finished 5th in both of the last two years on the Outlaw circuit. Driving his Wetherington Tractor Service “7S”car, Jason is a fan favorites wherever he races. Next year, he’ll race wherever he chooses.

Remember when USAC pulled this, look where USAC is now. It's still a good series but it's not as prominant as it once was.

To say they didn't approve the request is a bit misleading, because they also didn't DISAPPROVE the request. What they did was ignore the request. From what's been presented above, Jason did what the governing body asks its drivers to do before racing outside the series. The governing body, however, didn't do what IT was supposed to do. After Jason contacted WoO, it would seem that the onus would be on them to say yea or nea, not bury their head in the sand and then come to him later with this fine.

Looks like WRG is really trying to fubar this whole situation. From IBRACIN website:

It is being reported that Jason Sides wasn't allowed at he banquet on Sunday. No table for Sides and no money either. Looks as if the WoO is fighting back and as a result, the law suit is forthcoming. This will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Sure would be nice if Stewart and Kahne would lean on the the leadership of WRG and have them actually do the right thing.

After watching Charlotte on Saturday it's pretty obvious that of the three series that raced, the sprint cars were the least exciting of the three. WRG should worry more about their product and less about enforcing a half-assed rule.

A Stupid lack of communication has caused this problem, screw any & everybody who does NOT have the decency to return a phone call. It's not that hard to do is it?
