Congrats to Greg Hancock of the USA for securing his fourth Speedway world championship.
A unreal feat considering how little speedway is appreciated and supported in the USA.

Not sure there is much of a relationship between Greg winning his 4th world title and the lack of support and appreciation of the sport of speedway here in the US. Greg lives in Sweden and team races exclusively in Europe (Sweden & Poland) as well as competing for the world title from his race HQ in Sweden. Greg does come back to SoCal in the winter on an annual basis to visit friends, test and thaw but for all intents and purposes he is an expatriate.

There is a relationship, being there is literally only a handful of tracks in the USA just having a base of riders that would give you the experience and speed to even think about making it to Europe that in it's self is unreal. You obviously know that it is extremely difficult to be invited to ride in Europe in the first place. You just don't decide you want to be world champion, move to Europe and compete. The hardest part is getting there in the first place. Not just anyone can ride speedway in Europe, its hard to get into even if your a European. We have a few world champions, a couple more in the making most likely. Quite a amazing feat considering the circumstances.

Another amazing fact is his age. He is 46-years-old and USC beating riders young enough to be his kids for the title. Another amazing fact is it was 14 years between his first and second world title and five years between titles 2, 3 and four. And, he was past his 40th birthday when he won the last three. He is one amazing athlete.

Scott, Any "word on the street" as to when Ryan Fisher will be coming back the US and what he'll be doing once he gets settled? I seem to recall that the press release announcing his retirement mentioned something about a business is Vegas. Also any word as to whether he'll continue racing once he gets back

He and his wife have a business called "Woods Family Sandwiches" in Henderson, Nevada. He is coming back to help her run that. Main reason he quit was he wanted to be with his family all the time as they have two young children. Have not heard if he is going to ride stateside. Will ask his father in law.

Scott, did Gino do well enough racing stateside to be awarded a UK work permit for next season? Thanks for the Speedway updates.

Yes, he finished high enough in the National Championship Series that he has a work permit for two years
