I heard that starting today(Monday) the concession stand up on the hill is going to be demolished and then re-built. I guess we will see...

Spiker wasn't joking around... it sounds like he is definately taking the new job very seriously.

I have a few questions for some of the "old timers" or anyone that knows. I found some photos from 1999 taken by photographer Steve Hardin... http://www.stevehardin.com/htm/lincolnpark.htm Viewing the photos got me thinking and I wondered if some of you could share a little history about the track.

Was Buck Arnold the owner at LPS before the Farrar's had it? Was he the guy that built the concrete grandstands?

Does anyone have old photos of the LPS before 1999 or even before the concrete grandstands were built??

Does anyone have old race results for LPS?

What some may fail to remember is that LPS was once viewed as one of the premier weekly track for sprint cars (as opposed to wing sprint cars) in the nation - and it was a different world - Gas City was shuttered - Bloomington ran wings. I have track champions as well.

Yes, I remember the when the place packed... I grew up in Putnamville... I remember sneaking through a fence at the southwest corner of the 'old' pits (you know where all the old tires were piled up) and walking through a couple times.... it was always a packed house.

Please share the past champions. I know my good friend Brian Hayden was sprint car champion in 1996 and I believe rookie of the year in 1990... with Bill Rose being the RotY in 1989 The ROTY dates could be wrong.

As for what I heard... I am going to stop be the track today a see for myself what is being done.

Now??? you already knew that... :2:

I stopped by the track... building is not being demolished... from what I saw, both restrooms have been cleaned and painted... they smell better. Definately better. The concession area is being given a major cleaning and looks like there getting ready to paint.

Eric Shively won a championship or two? Not sure of the years.
