1941 Chevy coupe. My Dad bought it for $65.00 for my Mom to drive. Back then (mid '50s), most folks were single car families (if they were lucky) but Dad had to start working construction away from home when the Schenley penicillin plant shut down. Later, I got the car. Lots of fun in it and I wish I had it back. Sadly, it was lost in the '37 Ohio River flood.

1958 Chevy that I bought for $100. Just think that I only missed a "classic" by a year. The best thing I remember about that car was the floor board in the rear seat area was rusted out. While a few friends and I were enjoying some fellowship and a little liquid libation one evening, one of the guys over indulged and called "Ralph" in the back. I got the hose out and washed it down and out. Drove it for a couple of years and sold it for $125. What a deal!:applaud:

Ok Marv, a couple of questions? The car, a 41 coupe. You had it in the 50s.It was lost in the 37 flood? If the car was built in 41 how did it see the 37 flood? Either way you got me beat. My first car was a pontiac sunbird. Met it's end in a ditch on a stormy night after some serious partying. Can't tell you much other then Casey Jones was playing. Didn't even know I flipped it till I saw the tennies go out the back window. Fortunately noone got hurt, well at least seriously, worst headache I ever had the next day.

1971 Pontiac LeMans T-37 4 door. Had a 350 in it. I got the thing painted and put Cragars on it. Was a SWEET ride. The kids at school used to call it "such a piece of s*it" until I took them for a ride. She flew like gangbusters up to 140 MPH.... then all of a sudden the car was bada$$. Nothing like good ole GM horsepower to shut the kids up

Nice catch Z-man. :thumb: I always throw that in when "my first car" conversations crop up just to see who, if anyone, is paying attention. Most times it slides by unchallenged. Clearly Mrs. FB is not the only one disinterested in my nostalgic ramblings. :wink1: BTW, all but the last sentence is true. I blew it up late one night, had it towed to my buddy's parents barn where he and I scavenged parts for his '50 and my '49 Chevs.

an '89 Ford Escort GT. The thing was fast for the first 50 feet, then I got smoked until it got to the corners. Then it was really fun. I miss that car. I killed it, though.

1951 Chevrolet 5 Window Pickup. Dad made me build it from the ground up. 216 6-cyl with a Fenton Cast header and dual exhaust. This truck was my first exposure to a torque tube. Blew out a u-joint and trashed the torque ball. I stole the rear end and tranny out of a stock car we had sitting around and with a littel fabrication I was able to keep on truckin.:Steer
