Building a Buick 215 powered vintage road racing sports car. Aside from the Buick, we'd like to bring some additional American hardware to the mostly British car crowd... namely, vintage Halibrand wheels and hubs. Now, we've figured out how to mount the old Ford stub axles in some Jaguar "uprights"... but our old Halibrand aluminum hubs have only three pins (not six). So our engineering question is... are the three pins going to be substantial enough to keep the wheels in place (with Halibrand pressure plates) to take the repeated braking forces generated on a road course... especially regarding the potential of the pins ablonging the holes in the magnesium wheels.

In that this is vintage racing, we're only running six inch tires... but the braking loads will still be pretty rock 'n roll... and there are some curbs. So... any thoughts in this area would be great!

I don't know my vintage parts well.
Are your 3 pins 5/8" dia? Most pavement sprint cars are running 3 5/8's studs and nuts on LF tires, and any that have the single nut squash plate setup typical only run 3 studs on LF/RF. I can't think your braking, corner force would be greater than anything at Anderson/Winchester.
Quite a few crown cars run the same setup. We typically see cracking on RF wheel centers before any deformation of locating holes.

depends what is total weight of unit and speed?
older sprints on dirt used6 pin fronts but only used 3 to save weight
on dirt you don't have the forces like asphalt
